SOUTHERN BAPTIST CONVENTION: CALL TO PRAYER
During January, churches and individuals are answering a Call to Prayer by the Southern Baptist Convention. This is an opportunity to focus on missional praying. The North American Mission Board is providing resources to assist churches in participating in this prayer emphasis anytime in January. Suggestions for the Call to Prayer include five areas:
--My Family and Friends. Select a friend or family member and pray that they would come to faith in Christ.
--My Church. Select a church staff member, volunteer or ministry, and pray for them in their efforts to penetrate lostness. A list of churches in our association is available on this website.
--My Nation. Select a Send North America city and pray for church planting efforts in that area (see www.namb.net/cities).
--My World. Select an unreached people group and pray that the Gospel would be advanced among these people (see www.imb.org/prayerthreads.) Our association is prayerfully seeking an unreached people group to adopt and provide a translation of the JESUS Film.
--My Southern Baptist Convention. Select a national, state, or local leader and pray for guidance in leading the Southern Baptist Convention.
Sanctity of Human Life Sunday on January 22, 2012
Since 1983, Americans have observed Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (SOHLS) as a day to celebrate the intrinsic value of all human life. This important day also provides an opportunity for pregnancy centers to share about the work they do to bring life-affirming resources to their communities and to empower women and men to choose life for their unborn children. Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is held on the Sunday in January that falls closest to the day on which the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions were handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court on January 22, 1973.
